No 1936 issue of Islander has survived. The 1937 issue is a curiosity. It is not named Islander -- but Dewxyz Extemporania. It is set up in a double column format and contains few illusrations, though the cover cut of the camp boat, the Friendship sloop Volunteer under sail is nifty.
The issue contains the first mention of town meetings and township organization -- something that would become a central feature of camp life thereafter. Committees, bureaus, and departments established by the meeting included fire, maintenance and construction, navigation, and post office.
