No copies of Islander for 1952 and 1953 are known to survive. In 1954, two issues were produced, both using the "ditto" reproduction technology. While the new technology undoubtedly made producing Islander vastly easier, its introduction also signalled a sad declline in its visual quality. The handsome block prints, occasional pasted in photographs, and colorful papers that marked earlier Islanders were no a thing of the past.

Unfortunately, the new technology and the cheap paper used also had major shortcomings from the standpoint of preservation and copying. The text and drawings in many of the dittoed Islanders are too faint or too blurred to reproduce.
